Supporting Letters for Registered Members

For owners registered with us, we can prepare personalised supporting letters for landlords, accommodation providers, employers, education providers, businesses, venues and transport operators. The letter explains that the assistance dog provides disability-related support as an auxiliary aid or medical support aid and outlines the owner’s request for reasonable adjustments. In England, Scotland and Wales, relevant protections may include Sections 6, 13, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 29 of the Equality Act 2010, together with provisions covering employment, education, housing and public services. Sections 168–176 contain specific requirements concerning assistance dogs in taxis and private-hire vehicles. In Northern Ireland, similar protections are principally provided by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, as amended, alongside separate taxi legislation. Air travel is governed by specialist aviation rules, including assimilated Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006, under which recognised assistance dogs may be accommodated subject to airline, safety, notification and destination requirements. Our letters explain how refusing access or applying a blanket “no pets” policy without properly considering the individual circumstances could amount to disability discrimination or a failure to make reasonable adjustments. Each letter supports the owner’s request but does not independently create legal status or guarantee access, as every case must be assessed individually and specialist transport or safety rules may apply.

If you require a supporting letter, please email support@assistancedogsuk.com with full details of your request. Include the name and contact details of the person or organisation the letter should be addressed to, the issue involved, the outcome you are requesting, and as much relevant information as possible.

For travel-related letters, please also provide the name of the airline, rail, coach, ferry or other travel company, your estimated travel date, your departure location and your final destination.
